SUMMARY:Spring Break Art Fest with Camp Banyan
DESCRIPTION:Join us for some creative fun over Spring Break! Each Camper will bring home an acrylic on canvas painting\, an original ink print and a book of doodles created by the participants. And\, of course\, there will be Core Value lessons\, recreation breaks\, role play\, games\, etc. \n\nCamp is geared toward 16 to 29 year old handicapable young adults (who do not need full-time assistance\, able to express wants/needs)\nCamp starts at 9am (registration at 8:45) and dismissal is promptly at 3pm\nEach Camper brings a bag lunch (we will provide a snack and drinks)\nComfortable clothes that a little paint won’t hurt are a must!\nCost is $75\, paid to The Banyan Odyssey\, Inc.\nGuest artists include Kelly Paxton (Ms. “Happy Pants”)\, Heidi Stavinga (see her ink art at https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=heidi%20stavinga%20studio) and a surprise or two\nOur goal this session is to unlock creativity in an accepting environment where social\, life and job skills are taught and caught along the way\n\nContact us ASAP if interested!

DESCRIPTION:You will see some familiar faces from our Special Needs Community in the chorus of this opera! Visit the Facebook Event pages for more details and the Spanish Lyric Theatre website to purchase tickets! Performances are on March 24th at 7:30pm and March 26th at 3pm. \nLUISA FERNANDA is brought to us by the Spanish Lyric Theatre\, directed by Diego Iglesias. \n  \nPerformed in Spanish with English super titles\, this Zarzuela is in many ways the last great romantic zarzuela. Musically Luisa Fernanda embodies its composer’s ideals of El casticismo – an attempt to foster the tradition of pure\, popular nationalism. The music offers colorful Spanish charm\, as well as fair helpings of graceful Viennese musical comedy and Italian operatic verismo. \n\n Luisa Fernanda is a love story told within the time of the popular 1868 uprising against the Queen of Spain. The themes relate to the universal desire for democracy; this was the first time in Spanish history that the people spoke out against their monarchy and demanded a government that spoke for the people.
